Security Gate   Gas Trap

A defensive security gate to prevent enemies from passing through your ship. Requires power to operate.

The Gas Trap a 1x2 defense/trap room that can be purchased at level three. The Gas Trap can be bought with 80 Doves Points.png in the Dove Store. The Gas Trap essentially acts the same as a Security Gate, except it requires two power, can't be upgraded, and takes one second longer to recharge.


In Combat

Just like the Security Gate, placement of the Gas Trap is key to its effectiveness. That means placing it near commonly boarded areas like the Teleport, Shield Generator, Small Reactors, etc. The Gas Trap also has an innate 100 Armor (50% Damage Reduction), so additional Armor is optional.

When To Use

Since the Gas Trap requires Doves Points.png to obtain, only mid to end-game players can obtain it. The Gas Trap at this stage in the game isn't very effective. Its two power consumption and longer reload makes it inferior to the normal Security Gate. The Gas Trap's damage of 6 is also too low to deal adequate damage to enemy boarders.


Since the Gas Trap only deals damage to enemy boarders, it doesn’t need power if the enemy doesn't have an active Teleport. Below is an AI command that will automatically depower the Gas Trap if the enemy doesn't have an active Teleport. Also, the Gas Trap is counted as a "Security Room" in AI coding.

Enemy Teleport HP > 0% -> Set Maximum Power

None -> Set Zero Power

A slightly more complicated version of the above AI command will power the Gas Trap if the enemy crew are in the enemy's Teleport. This command requires Python 3.X.

None -> Target Enemy Teleport

Target Room Has Enemy -> Set Maximum Power

None -> Set Zero Power
