|AP Damage||Direct Hull Damage|
AP (Armor Piercing) Damage is like a special form of System Damage. However, unlike System Damage, AP Damage has two unique properties that separate them apart. First, AP Damage won't become hull damage when the targetted room is destroyed. Second, AP Damage ignores all Armor debuffs, except for innate Armor. The ladder makes AP Damage the best way to destroy heavily Armored rooms like the Shield Generator.
AP Damage Mechanics
AP and System Damage both affect Room HP and Barriers. So, one damage type has to be applied first. Luckily for us, AP Damage is applied first when a room is hit by AP and System Damage at the same time. For example, 3 AP Damage and 2 System Damage are dealt to a 10 HP room. The 3 AP Damage is dealt first, then the 2 System Damage.
AP Damage ignores Armor, but it does not ignore innate Armor. So, rooms like the Bedroom will be unaffected by AP Damage since it also can’t deal damage to the enemy’s hull when the targetted room is destroyed.
AP Damage Weaponry
Below is a list of weaponry that inflict AP Damage.
- AP Damage used to become hull damage when its targetted room was destroyed.
- When AP Damage was changed to no longer deal hull damage, a massive bug was created. The AP Damage would instantly kill the enemy ship when it hit a destroyed enemy room. This has since been fixed.
